Apple has warned of doable iPhone and iPad shortages in opposition to the tip of this 12 months.
"We expect supply constraints during the September quarter to be greater than what we experienced during the June quarter," said Apple CFO Luca Maestri on a decision with analysts. "The constraints will primarily impact iPhone and iPad."
Crucially, September is the month that Apple is predicted to unveil its hotly-anticipated iPhone 13, along with the Apple AirPods 3 true wi-fi earbuds and a new Apple Watch.
In the same name, Apple CEO Tim Cook hinted that the worldwide shortage of laptop chips, which has so far affected the whole thing from the production of Tesla cars to Sony PlayStation 5 consoles, was in charge.
“We do have some shortages,” Cook stated, “the place the demand has been so great and so beyond our own expectation that it’s tricky to get all the set of portions within the lead times that we attempt to get those.”
In an effort to keep away from production delays, Apple is reported to have higher its order of A15 chips for the drawing close iPhone 13 to over one hundred million. That's around 25 million more than it ordered forward of the release of the iPhone 12.
Not that the continued supply issues appear to have affected Apple's base line. Total profits hit a staggering $21.7 billion in the remaining quarter, driven in large part by better-than-expected iPhone sales (consumers upgrading to 5G devices, principally).
The California tech giant expects the launch of the iPhone 13 to lend a hand it post "double-digit growth", but not anything drawing near the 36 in keeping with cent enlargement Apple noticed in Q3 2020.
The iPhone Thirteen line-up is tipped for a 120Hz ProMotion display, an progressed camera, and a smaller notch. We'll be bringing you all the latest leaks and information in the run-up to the massive reveal in September.
